Strengthening the Health Security and Resilience of Our Communities
This week Botswana Red Cross Society in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies ( IFRC ) is conducting a Training of Trainers on Epidemic Preparedness in Communities (EPiC). This training is designed to equip health practitioners with the knowledge and skills to train communities and volunteers using practical, easy-to-understand, and context-relevant tools for epidemic preparedness and response.
The session was graced by the presence of BRCS Board Member Mr Rona Letlhogile who underscored the importance of building practical competencies to identify epidemic signals, report them promptly, coordinate effective responses, and empower communities in preventing and controlling diseases. He further emphasized that the EPiC Training strengthens collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Red Cross teams, ensuring that national preparedness remains aligned, timely, and people-centered. Participants include Baphalali (Eswatini) Red Cross Society, Lesotho Red Cross Society, South African Red Cross Society and Ministry of Health -Botswana.
